So, you've read about Sydney ConFesters in the About page, and you'd like to attend one of our festivals.
Here's some more information that will help you decide what to pack and how to stay safe during the festival. You can also find out how to get involved and how to contact us.
WHAT'S PROVIDED
- Basic first aid materials.
- Communal cooking facilities.
- There are plans to erect kitchens, chai tent, basic outdoor showers and toilets, workshop spaces, steam room and a hot tub.
ITEMS TO BRING
As the festival is camping-based, we have included a list of useful items you may consider bringing as none of these items will be provided (labeling your gear will help identify them if lost):
- Camping gear: Tent, appropriately insulated sleeping bag or doona for the season, rug, groundsheet, torch.
- Eating gear: Personal plate, bowl, eating utensils, coffee/chai mug (suggest in a carry bag so they don't get lost) Care for the environment - please do not bring disposables.
- Food: Bring your own or bring food to share if you would like to be apart of the communal cooking spaces.
- Clothes: Warm or light clothes (depending on the season, it could be cold at night), hat, good walking shoes, rain jacket, swimming gear (all optional of course).
- Extras: Chair, acoustic musical instruments, food (bring your own or bring some to contribute to communal cooking), water bottles, sunscreen, first aid and insect repellent. Earplugs will help to reduce noise. Smokers please bring portable ashtrays/film canisters.
THE ENVIRONMENT
- The festival is likely to proceed regardless of weather conditions. However, please check for updates on the website & Sydney ConFesters yahoo group, especially if the weather is extreme.
- Only communal campfires are allowed on site. Please don’t light any personal campfires and be aware of any Fire Bans that may be in place.
- The use of the hot tub and dam is not advised if you have open wounds.
- Tree branches may fall. Take care when choosing your site.
- Please take all rubbish and waste with you at the end of the weekend, including cigarette butts.
ENTRY FEES
- Entry cost is payable at the front gate. Cash only and exact money please. Current costs will be publicised on latest brochure.
- No matter when you arrive, all attendees will be charged the full entry fee.
- Part of the entry ticket is a work contribution (Your work contribution is at least 2 hours of your time and occurs during the festival).
- Workshops are optional and not part of your entry ticket work contribution.

HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?
Sydney ConFesters is run by its members, so there is always plenty to do during the festival as well as beforehand.
- Subscribe to the Sydney ConFesters yahoo mailing list so you are informed about new events.
Simply go to http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/sydneyconfesters/ click on "Join this group" and type in your name and password. It's quick and easy!
- Attend Sydney ConFesters :-)
- Come to one of the fortnightly planning meetings in Sydney. Attending regular planning meetings is a good way to get to know the people involved. Dates for these meetings are on the Sydney ConFesters Calendar.
